  • Sex positivity, according to me, is a view about sex as a part of life, desire or longing for sex as only natural. Not having sexual desires is also only natural. Along with that also taking a stance that sex is sex only if it's consented by all the people involved, and in that case is a healthy and pleasurable part of life. I also view sex as an act of fun and pleasure for the person(s) involved, moving away from traditional definitions of sex. I attempt to create a safe space in sessions to talk about sex in a freeing and liberating way, letting go of the shame society attaches to the topic. Along with this, also help people develop their sexual voices and respectful communication with partners around sex and pleasure.

  • Sexuality is fluid and can't be fit into boxes. To me being an ally means to support with compassion and letting queer folks know that I won't judge them! It also means for me to constantly work on unlearning my conditioned beliefs, being open to listening to and reading about narratives of LGBTQIA+ folks so that I can provide unconditional support and cheer them on to take up space!

  • Outcomes for trauma therapy are unique for each survivor depending on what they would like for themselves and their lives. A few things that are important parts of therapy according to me are - taking a stance that violence or abuse is not okay, and letting the survivors know that I believe them and see them. Building a compassionate and empathetic relationship with oneself, understanding the impact of trauma and learning how to take care of oneself.

  • A typical first session with me involves getting acquainted with each other and each others' style of expressing and communicating, a little bit about how therapy works, confidentiality and some background about the client so I have context to what they are going through. Eventual sessions look like taking the first few minutes to check in and update about how it has been for the client and then moving to working on certain aspects or themes that we decided in the first few sessions. In therapy a part also involves exploring certain tools, techniques and information that might be helpful to the client.
