Yukti Saumya

Yukti is a researcher, training to be a restorative justice practitioner. She completed her master’s in Transitional Justice, Human Rights, and the Rule of Law, with a thesis on connecting sexual violence research across peacetime and conflict. In 2022, she spoke at the 9th Review Conference of the Biological Weapons Convention at the United Nations in Geneva, representing Maat Foundation for Peace and advocating for inclusive youth engagement in peace processes.

She was inspired to establish The Centre for Restoration based on her experiences of working with Ashoka University’s Internal Complaints Committee. As a student representative during her undergraduate studies, she hosted town-halls about campus safety, and rallied multiple student groups to host Ashoka’s first Sexual Harassment Awareness and Prevention Month. Advocating for survivors of sexual misconduct eventually cemented her decision to pursue work in the field of gender justice.

Yukti completed her BA (Hons.) degree in History and International Relations from Ashoka University. In 2022, she completed a postgraduate research diploma with a thesis about museum restitution in post-partition South Asia. She is interested in research pertaining to trauma studies, post-conflict restitution, museums and memorialisation, and restorative gender justice. She loves books, cats, and coffee.
