Sex positivity is an approach that encourages a healthy and non-judgmental attitude towards sexuality. As a psychologist, I believe it's essential for people to embrace their sexual identities and preferences without shame or stigma. This promotes open communication, consent, and respect in sexual relationships. It emphasises understanding that each person's choices are valid as long as they are consensual and safe. Sex positivity empowers individuals to explore and express their sexuality freely, fostering self-acceptance and promoting a positive outlook on intimacy.

It means embracing and celebrating the diversity of LGBTQ+ individuals. It's about creating a welcoming space where everyone feels safe and accepted just as they are. As a psychologist, being an ally to me means listening without judgment, understanding their unique experiences, and advocating for their rights and well-being. This support can make a huge difference in their lives, boosting their sense of support and mental health. When psychologists are queer allies, they build trust with their clients, making it easier for them to open up and seek help. Ultimately, it's about promoting a world where everyone feels accepted and loved, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and understanding! 🏳️🌈❤️

As a psychologist, my aim in trauma therapy is to help survivors heal and thrive after going through tough experiences. We focus on positive outcomes, like reducing distressing symptoms such as anxiety and sadness. We work together to improve emotional regulation, so they can handle their feelings in a healthier way. Building self-esteem is essential, helping them make sense of their experience in a larger social context, reducing self blame and work on self concept to re-establish safety within self become imperative. We also work on healthier relationships and finding ways to face triggers without avoiding them. We assist them in making sense of their trauma, which can bring a sense of closure and understanding. As they heal, they often feel safer and more relaxed, letting go of that constant feeling of threat.
Having said that, healing is a unique journey, and often doesn't follow a singular pattern or method for everyone. We're here to support them in reclaiming their lives and moving towards future as they feel most comfortable.

In a typical therapy session, I strive to create a safe and confidential space online. We begin by discussing their reasons for seeking therapy, exploring their thoughts, emotions, and concerns. A large portion of the session is geared towards making enough space for the client to bring their concerns without fear of judgement and build a trusting relationship. I may ask questions to gain deeper insights into their experiences and challenges. Together, we collaboratively set goals for therapy. Depending on the client's needs, I might encourage self-reflection, explore obstacles faced currently, and offer coping strategies. Our sessions are a mix of serious exploration and down-to-earth conversations. Throughout, my focus remains on supporting their growth, fostering resilience, and helping them find clarity and healing in their journey.
