Sex positivity to me means adapting a lens of non-judgemental thinking while talking about anything related to sex and sexuality. It means seeing sex as something that is a part of human life and talking about sex in a healthy way rather than shying away from it or seeing it as a “bad” thing.

Being an ally means being open minded and supportive. One may not know everything about the LGBTQIA+ community, but having the curiosity and good intent to ask and know more is very important, rather than succumbing to your own bias and assumptions about what queer means and acting out of that.

It is different for different clients. However, the common thing is to help clients feel
empowered and regain agency over their lives, and to be able to make choices for themselves. Ultimately the goal is for them to start realising that trauma is an important part of their lives but it does not define who they are. -
A typical session varies depending on the phase of therapy the client is in. The initial stage is of rapport formation, wherein the client and I will establish a therapeutic relationship, and talk about the client’s context. Moving forward, we will try to unpack their experiences and see if any other perspective can be offered. All of this happens in a warm and compassionate environment—with a bit of humour and memes sprinkled in.
