Sex positivity includes but is not limited to the act of sex. A person's gender identity, sexual orientation, and their life experiences play into this. Sex positivity means accepting and understanding a person's identity, body image, where sex is a healthy activity aimed towards enhancing pleasure and satisfaction, creating a bond between partners, and where consent is of utmost importance.

I identify as a cis-het person and understand that this identity gives me certain perks from the society which are not given to a person from the queer community. I recognise this and every action of mine is geared towards creating safe spaces for all genders and sexualities in personal and professional life. I practise queer affirmative therapy which means that I have learned and understand the unique life struggles of LGBTQIA+ individuals which I apply in my practice. A true ally is one who genuinely believes in and champions for the rights of queer individuals outside of pride month too.

Ultimately the goal is to empower survivors of trauma to rebuild their lives and work towards growth and self-fulfilment. For this to come true, therapist and client should first work on processing traumatic experiences and reduce the harm caused to client by repetitive and intrusive thoughts and feelings. Therapy should also focus on teaching clients various skills to feel a sense of safety and security in physical spaces and relationships. Also, to improve self worth which would have been negatively affected by traumatic events.

A typical session is for 45- 50 minutes. I am guided by the principles of person-centred therapy in my practice. This form of therapy and model places importance on human potential and growth. My aim is to build my client's trust in me which I ensure by creating a safe space for my clients to share their issues without feeling judged. We explore various areas of life which may and may not be impacted by the present issues, thereby understanding patterns of behaviour. All this leads to creating insight which is beneficial for both client and me. As we progress in therapy, I empower my clients with various behavioural and cognitive strategies to cope with the issues they are facing.
