  • In my understanding, sex positivity refers to an attitude of being accepting, understanding and empathetic towards individuals’ sexualities and sexual experiences.

  • I identify as asexual-aromantic, so I’m part of the LGBTQIA+, and it has informed the way I live my life and what I hope to create. However, even if I’m queer, I know my queer experience could be different from other queer individuals/communities— and in that, I am an ally for them, and their right to be queer the way they define it.

  • At the root of trauma lies immense guilt and shame for the experience. An outcome of trauma therapy, then, would look like reduction in the intensity of that shame/guilt, if not complete removal— with the individual developing self-compassion for themselves as they heal from the incident(s).

  • I engage in long-term therapy and pace myself and the client accordingly. A typical session (after the goal-setting sessions/history collecting) consists of the first few minutes in catching up to the client’s week and some small talk to ease into the session. Then, I ask what the client would like— to either bring something on their mind or to pick up from where we left last time. Sometimes it is talk therapy, sometimes we involve body work or emotional work. I also ensure we sufficiently come out of a potentially vulnerable state. Towards the end, as I close I ask what the client is taking away from the session, to ensure that reflection has happened. We agree to meet on the day and time next week, and close off.
