  • Sex positivity to me has been the idea that all consensual and safe sex practices to be viewed from the lens of personal freedom and choice. Individuals should have a space to explore and learn about various aspects of themselves like gender and sexuality in a space that is judgement and bias free in order to destigmatise and un-shame the non-normative understandings of fluid and spectrum based aspects of humanity.

  • As a therapist and as a human being, I strongly believe that anyone, regardless of their own sexual and/or gender orientation can be an ally to the LGBTQIA+ community. Being an ally means being updated on current matters and laws related to the community, speaking up for whats right and staying respectfully curious about aspects that are unfamiliar.

  • Trauma is not what happened to you, it is what happened inside of you as a result of what happened to you. Trauma therapy focuses on belief systems, thoughts, feelings and body sensations that get locked up/ frozen and the trauma survival responses that are generated as a result. Trauma work is understanding these precise links and working on the aftermath of the traumatic experiences. Working with the inner child and various parts of the self and using various safety and stabilisation techniques helps clients to distinguish their adult selves and adaptive coping responses from the past with compassion and awareness. This helps them thrive with the trauma as only one healed part of them in the present.

  • Sessions with me typically begin with the first appointment being about what brings the client to therapy. Understanding their vision and goals for therapy helps me manage expectations of outcomes as well as psycho-educate and streamline my approach to assess fit. Some amount of history taking and assessments are done as and when required. Therapy is extremely collaborative with a strong focus and continuous return to the therapy process and relationship between the client and the therapist. Sessions are typically scheduled once a week. Therapy comes to an end when goals are met.
