Sex positivity means understanding, embracing, and respecting all forms of sexual expression and identities. I believe in educating and supporting individuals without judgement to promote deeper awareness, which helps inform our choices. It encourages a culture of consent and mutual respect, honouring diverse needs without shame and stigma. Being sex-positive helps create a safe, inclusive environment where everyone feels empowered to express their sexuality authentically.

Being an ally means supporting the community and knowing that everyone deserves respect and care, irrespective of their gender or sexuality. I try to educate myself about their unique experiences and challenges to be able to offer emotional support and a safe space. Therefore, I recognise the importance of intersectionality, understanding that various aspects of our identities impact our experiences. As a psychologist, I affirm my clients' identities, advocate for their mental health, and try to stay informed about best practices in the field. I strive to challenge biases in my personal life and within the profession in order to move away from and dismantle heteronormative ideals and assumptions.

Every journey is unique—what works for one person may not work for another, so it is important to tailor my approaches to fit each individual's specific needs and experiences. This approach can be key to effective healing. A big goal is to help clients feel safe—in their environments, relationships, and themselves. This can be achieved through emotional regulation or accessing social support for healthier self-esteem and confidence. Some of the outcomes can enable people to deal with day-to-day concerns like nightmares, flashbacks, or anxiety. Therapy can also help improve communication and trust in relationships and teach effective coping skills for building resilience. The aim is to integrate the trauma into one's life story in a way that doesn’t dominate their identity; the client feels empowered to influence their own narrative.

A session with me will involve the client and me working together to make sense of and explore their concerns or issues. It is a collaborative process in which we may use different resources to work through what is coming up for the client. The aim is to meet the clients where they are in their journeys, trusting them to take charge and feel empowered in their lives.
